Hi Everyone!  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas yesterday!  I absolutely love Christmas, have since I was a kid.  I love everything about it!  As quickly as it came, its now over in our house as we move on to another birthday celebration around here.  Wishing my sweet little boxing day baby a happy birthday!  Here's a little art project I made for her, planning on using it on the outside of one her presents all wrapped up!  Just had to share, and as you can see I used a wide array of Design Memory Craft products.  I did video tape my process but I had a hard time figuring out how to edit it on my tablet so that will probably be another post to come...

I made this little wooden block painting, you can see the full post including a tutorial over on the

Crazy for Gelli printing!!!

I finished this project way back in the summer when I was addicted to Gelli printing!!!  Yes, once you start you can't stop!  In the end, what to do with all the beautiful prints?  Make a book!

I used a bunch of prints of that had the same colour scheme!

I found a cute little cut file on the Silhouette store by (Lori Whitlock) and made a little mini journal book out of all the Gelli prints shown above!

Binded it together with some ivory brads.

I added some of my favourite quote stamps for inspiration:

Then I finished off the cover with some mini banners and wood letters coloured with Gelatos® .

I also found a cut file for this adorable little match book and used up all the left over scrappy goodness from the Gelli prints.  I added some banners with some hand written words using some india ink and a bamboo brush.

I loved making these prints and books!  All you need is a Gelli Plate (Gelli Arts), a roller, some paper and paint and you're off to the races!!!

Hoping to get my next round of Gelli prints on video to show you the fun addictive process it is!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Always......

Here's my daughters tribute, poppies painted with her fingerprints and lots of sparkle!

Remembrance Day, November 11th.

Every year on November 11, Canadians pause in a moment of silence to honour and remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict and peace. We remember the more than 1,500,000 Canadians who have served throughout our nation’s history and the more than 118,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice.  Thank you!

Paper, pencils and gelatos, oh my!!!

Happy Thursday all!  Just a quick little post showing you what you can do with a piece of paper, a quick sketch with a pencil, some pencil crayons and of course some Gelatos®!

I roughly sketched out my girl.  I don't really care that she's not perfect, or that its 'scribbly', I like that look and am trying to find my way in drawing faces...

I took my Prismacolor Pencil crayons and went to work bringing her face to life...I use a blending stump and some gamsol (odorless mineral spirits) to blend the pencil crayons...

I thought I would try a different medium for the hair and took a black Double Scoop Gelato® and went to work laying down the colour and blending wtih my fingers...

I wanted to add a background so I used the Double Scoop Gelatos® in Raspberry and Silver Ice.

Blended it in with my finger to create a smooth finish.

Its fun to just play around and test out different mediums.  I'll keep working on my faces, they're coming along slowly but surely...

Try something new today, get creative and have fun!!!

Love you to the moon and back...

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Today I'm sharing with you a mini canvas (2x2) I did a while back.  I love working on tiny surfaces, I love the detail work as you can see from the banner.  It is fiddly and a bit fussy but it calms me!

For this little canvas I started with a wash for the background using Gelatos in a variety of pinks and purples.  I then added some drips of india ink straight from the bottle dropper and added some black gelatos around the side edges.  I cut out little triangles from some scrap designer paper and glued them to some scrappers floss and added some stickles.  A few more splatters, doodles and the added sentiment from Unity Stamps and it was all done!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Chalkboard tag with Gelatos®!

Hello Everyone!  I'm on deck again over at Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Blog.  I've got another little slideshow video tutorial to share on how I created the above tag.  I used some of the Textural Accents (Chalkboard Paint and Gesso) to create the chalkboard background and then discovered that drops of gelato; when dry, really 'pop' off the paint creating an amazing contrast of colours!

Head over to the Design Memory Craft Blog and check out the video!
Thanks for stopping by my little piece of the blogosphere today!
Have a good one!

Encourage your hopes not your fears....

I made this journal page a while back, just haven't had the chance to post it until now.  This was one of my first faces I tried to draw on my own.  Since then I've done some workshops and classes and when I look back at it I kinda cringe a bit.  BUT don't get me wrong, I do LOVE it and the Tim Holtz sentiment I added reminds me to 'keep at it' even if you don't think you can do it!

This page was created using Gelatos and Peerless Watercolors.  I took some Gelatos and added a pattern of 'dots'  to one side of the page.  Then I took my water bottle and spritzed up the page pretty good, shut my book, held my breath, crossed my fingers and when I opened it I got the mirror image on the other side.  Fun!  Then I randomly added the Peerless watercolors around the dots to make this very abstract background.  I drew in my girl and painted her with some Koi Watercolors.  Added the Stampers Anonymous Sentiment by Tim Holtz and used my Copic Multiliner to draw in some little daisy's and a border and left it at that!

I brought my art journal with me to CHA so I could have all my favourite designers sign it.   I luckily met Mr. Tim Holtz, had a quick photo opp and got him to sign it!  Very cool!  He's such a doll!

How cool is that?  Its like this page was made for him to sign!  I love it and also love how passionate he is about his work.  And he always has time for everyone - he's one awesome dude!

I can't help but share this too, another highlight of CHA for me was meeting Rupert from Survivor!  Who knew he would be working at the Tulip booth?  Being a HUGE fan of survivor I was super excited to meet him.  He's a big teddy bear!  He made my son a very cool pair of tie-dye socks - too cool!

Well that's it for today, I have more pics to show you from CHA which will come soon, (I know, its a bit late but that's how I roll...hee hee), I will show you the page Dina Wakley painted in my art journal (squeeeeeeeeeeeel - lucky me)!!!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great weekend!

A new journal page...gettin' messy without a plan...

So I usually have SOME sort of plan when I do an art journal page. I can picture it in my head, I get out my supplies and I go to work.  Not with this page.  I literally did this in about 15 minutes and it was SO-MUCH-FUN!  I totally just dove in without a plan, 'gasp' I know (not my usual way), grabbed anything I could use within arms reach and just rolled with it!

My random circles turned out to look like green olives but I love green olives so its a win win for me!

I love pushing myself outside my comfort zone, you should try it, you just might love the results!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great weekend!
